Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was just on cable on TBS, The Superstation. I just happened to be switching channels and recognized it, so I decided to watch this movie instead of something I was heading over to the Discovery Channel for. I missed a couple of minutes in the beginning. It stars John Cusack and Kevin Spacey. It is a true crime story of Jim Williams (played by Kevin Spacey, who does an outstanding job in the part.), a prominent antique/art dealer and socialite in Savannah, Georgia. His parties were the talk of the town and invitations were sought after, especially for his annual Christmas party. I highly recommend you read the book (The cover art of a girl holding up 2 plates made fame for the graveyard where it is located. People go there just to see it based on this bookcover. The movie ends with the camera focusing in on this figure.) Read the book! See the movie! Get the uncut version of the movie, so you can hear all of the dialogue. The Lady Chablis does a fantastic job playing herself. This is about real people and real events in Savannah, Georgia. It is the story of a murder, voodoo and the subsequent trial. It is a fascinating story with equally fascinating people. At least I learned what the "deadtime" is. "Deadtime" is the half hour before and after midnight. The time before midnight is for doing good, and the time after is for doing evil. Once again, I have learned something new. Next time I try my hand at some voodoo, I'll know when to do the bad stuff and when to do the good stuff.
