Another reality series hits the air and as far as reality series are concerned, I think this one hits a new low. The premise is the two girls, young ladies, rich and pampered in life, go to a rural area and live there for 5 weeks with no money, credit cards and such. Paris Hilton is 22 years old, and I think Nicole Ritchie is 22 also. Both are very thin to my way of thinking. Paris Hilton made the news recently with an X rated home video which got out on the internet somehow. I saw the video, by the way, and I wasn't all that impressed. A lady I knew a while back had some experience in the adult film industry and we made our own at one point which was easily several orders of magnitude better than what I saw via the internet. However, unlike Paris Hilton, I was absolutely sure to erase and then tape over the video so there would be absolutely no way I could end up on someone else's TV screen! I doubt that I will ever do anything like that again. I don't want any naked pictues of me circulating around. I just don't look that good. I'd be embarrassed. I seem to remember something about Nicole ritchie getting into trouble with the law about heroin or drugs of some kind a while back. What a claim to fame each has! Anyway, I'm off the subject, back to reality and the show. This reality series was filmed prior to this X-rated film becoming public. Anyway, Paris Hilton is heir to the hotel fortune and Nicole Ritchie is the daughter of the singer, Lionel Ritchie. They arrive at the local airstrip and then have to figure out how to drive a pickup truck since there is no one there to meet them. Paris has a bit of a problem working the gearshift and can't seem to find reverse. How hard is that with an automatic transmission anyway? At first I thought it was a stick shift, but then when they showed her moving the shift lever, and it became obvious it was a column mounted automatic shift. There was some confusion about what the "D" meant and evidently they did not quite get that the shift lever had to be in Park or Neutral for the starter to work. I think I've watched 5 of the half hour programs to date, and I have to say these two young ladies are, or at least seem to be, total airheads. Their manners are horrible. They treat people with very little respect. They can't follow simple directions. They intentionally cut corners and seem to have no work ethic whatsoever. It looks to me like they are not even trying most of the time. If this is the way these two young ladies are and what we see is not simply the result of the editing, then I feel really sorry for them. Appearances can be deceiving and maybe the editing is showing only the bad parts. I really hope what I've seen is not indicative of their true personalities.
