National Flood and Disaster Insurance is a RIP-OFF of the American public!
Here's the deal, people who live in a flood plain or on the coast and liable to get hit by bad weather can buy flood insurance subsidized by the American public. We all pay into this insurance via our taxes. If you build a house in a flood plain, and a flood comes, and your house is destroyed, the insurance will pay to rebuild it, in exactly the same place, subject to the exact same problem as before, and a person can do this over and over again at taxpayer expense with no raise in premiums and no limit on how many times they can rebuild. This is just stupid, to build in a place where the weather can potentially destroy your house, but people do it, and when sure enough, their house gets blown down again, they can rebuild it, and the next time it happens, rebuild it and so on. It is nice to have an ocean view and I would like to have one myself, but I can't afford to do it, only rich people can do this, take this risk, but they don't really take the risk since they buy the insurance we all pay for, and derive a benefit which in my opinion is undeserved. Am I alone in this feeling of being ripped off by our government in having to pay into insurance I can never take advantage of?
