Run Arnold, Run! Run Arianna, Run! Arnold Schwarzenegger is running for the office of Governor of the state of California. Arnold announced it on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. So is Arianna Huffington, and by the way, her ex-husband is running as well and I guess at last count about a dozen more. I mention Arianna Huffington because she has taken the posotion that she will take no polls, do no negative ads and limit her campaign funds, in other words, a "clean" campaign. Besides, I like her accent. Anyone with 65 signatures on an application and US$3500 and appropriate citizenship can get on the ballot. I wonder. Arnold is from Austria. I guess he either holds dual citizenship or is naturalized. I do not think a resident alien is eligible for governor. Matter of fact, the only citizenship requirement I know for sure is for President, which must be natural born and at least 35 years of age. The way it works is this: The present Governor is undergoing a recall vote. If recalled, the next governor is elected from the pool of people who apply. Nothing fancy here, just some citizenship issues, a form with appropriate signatures and US$3500 and you too, can be on the ballot. Apparently, a sufficient number of people feel the present governor is incompetent, hence the recall initiative. This promises to be a very interesting event!
