A lady I have known for about 20 years, died last Monday night. Actually, I did not "know" her in person. I never met her and I had absolutely no idea what she looked like as I never saw a picture even until earlier today, but I know and loved her voice. I knew her voice from the radio program I listened to almost every Saturday night from 1900-0000 hours local Pacific time on radio station KUOW 94.9 FM. The KUOW web page has real time streaming audio so if your computer is capable, you can hear the broadcast as I hear it on my portable radio that I carry around. Her name: Cynthia Ann Doyon, born June 6, 1955. Her show: The Swing Years and Beyond. I talked to her once. I called in to answer a question about a record album. She was looking for the information about a particular record, and I happened to have a copy, so I called and read her the liner notes and the performer information. She was quite popular and a lot of other people called in from time to time. I have no reason to believe she would have remembered me in particular, but I remember her voice, and how I loved to listen to her talk about the music she so obviously loved so much. She always had a wealth of information about the music she played, and things that happened in the music industry at the time and such. Last Saturday, unfortunately, I missed most of her show. I was off on a day trip to the coast and I spent a bit longer on the road than I had planned and did not get back home until around midnight, and I just went to bed. I was only able to receive KUOW for part of the time the show was on as I was driving. Sigh. I missed most of her last show. Forever after, I will miss the sound of her voice coming from the radio on a Saturday evening between the music of the big bands of the 30's, 40's and 50's. Goodbye, Ms. Doyon. I really enjoyed the show. I will miss you. Cynthia, I mourn your passing.
