My sinus cavities are all plugged up and I hurt.
I have a mild allergy to pollen and at the moment, it does not seem so minor any longer. Scotch Broom is in full bloom, and I mean full! Scotch Broom is a weed, I think, and is not native to the Pacific Northwest where I live. I think it was brought in as a ground cover for landscaping the highway center medians. However it got here, it was a big time mistake and now there is nothing much which can be done about it. There are no natural things which limit the stuff. We do not get snow here where I live, and rarely even do we have frost. I heard cold limits the stuff, but it does not get cold enough here to do anything to limit the growth. The same applies to blackberries here, imported as a ground cover and it got out of hand and likewise, it does not get cold enough to limit the growth. I am out in the country and this stuff is everywhere. Scotch Broom gets to be about 4 feet high on average and when it blooms, it gets thousands of small bright yellow flowers on each bush and it throws pollen into the slightest breeze, and it seems that the hotter it gets, the more pollen is released and the past couple of days, it has gotten really hot. So, I am suffering and my ears are plugged. I get the same symptoms as with a cold, my nose runs and I have trouble clearing my ears. For the past two days, I have not been able to clear my left ear. Usually, I can clear the pressure by yawning or sometimes by swallowing a mouthfull of water, but no luck for two days now. As I write this, I can feel pressure in my left ear and it is causing a headache. I took two aspirin an hour or so ago, and the headach at least, is not getting any worse. I hate medications, of all kinds. I limit my own to a couple of generic aspirin once in a while unless ordered by a doctor. I suppose I could get an allergy medication over the counter which would help my sinus problem, but it has only been this bad once before that I recall in the almost 20 years I've lived in this area. I love this area and will probably live in the trees for the rest of my life, but this Scotch Broom thing has be thinking it over. I wonder if there is another place like this, but without the Scotch Broom and blackberries. Maybe I'll consider moving further north, like maybe to Canada.
